Dr. Hanybal Yazigi
Dr. Hanybal Yazigi, MD, DM, is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Chair of Oncology at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre in Antigua and Barbuda, where he plays a central role in shaping national oncology services and advancing comprehensive cancer care. In addition to his public-sector leadership, Dr. Yazigi is the Co-Founder and Lead Oncologist of OncoMed268, his private practice based at Gambles Medical Center. Through OncoMed268, he is spearheading strategic initiatives aimed at expanding and modernizing cancer care services in Antigua and the wider Caribbean. These initiatives include the integration of advanced diagnostic services such as ultrasound and pathology, the development of radiation oncology pathways, and the implementation of digital patient portals to improve access, continuity of care, and patient engagement. Dr. Yazigi has completed postgraduate training in Urological Oncology and holds a special interest in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, with a strong focus on early detection, personalized therapy, and multidisciplinary management. His clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine and tailored to the unique needs of each patient. A respected leader in regional oncology, Dr. Yazigi serves as a member of the Caribbean Cancer Portal Steering Committee, and the National Cervical Cancer Taskforce. He is also the Coordinator of the National Multidisciplinary Tumor Board, fostering collaborative decision-making among specialists to ensure optimal cancer care outcomes. Dr. Yazigi is recognized as one of the pioneering physicians in the Medicinal Cannabis industry in Antigua and Barbuda and is actively involved in clinical and translational research within this field. His work contributes to the responsible integration of innovative therapies into oncologic care. Deeply committed to advancing oncology across the Caribbean, Dr. Yazigi is actively engaged in clinical research, multidisciplinary care models, medical education, and international collaborations. His vision is to elevate cancer care standards, expand access to modern treatments, and improve survival and quality of life for patients throughout the region.
